openc2e is a free and open-source game engine designed to be compatible with the various engines used in the Creatures series of artificial life games.

It allows you to play games such as Creatures, Creatures 2, Creatures 3, Docking Station and more, on many different platforms. You can even create your own games! It is being actively developed by an international team of Creatures hobbyists, and anyone can modify it under the terms of the GPL.

New Windows Developer Build
November 24, 2009 - posted by ElasticMuffin

After a loooooong hiatus, I have gotten my stuff together and posted a new Windows developer build for openc2e. Note that this build contains preliminary MNG support that is present in the current mainline openc2e source, and as of right now it is very buggy - your mileage may vary ;) It is also not enabled to play most tracks ingame yet.

Does this update indicate that more builds may follow, with corresponding improvements to the engine? Time will tell!

Change your Creatures Wiki links!

This is not strictly openc2e news (yes, the project has hit a hiatus again and we're not sure at the moment when the next release will be). But it is important for me to mention to you all that you should change your links and bookmarks to the Creatures Wiki to point to creatureswiki.net, rather than the current creatures.wikia.com. This will ensure that you will always wind up at the real wiki should a move take place in the future. For more information please see this Creaturetopia thread.
